Swift Water Rescue Operator (SRO)
This two day training course covers three nationally accredited units in order to become competent as a Swift Water Rescue Operator/First Responder . The program centers on WHS issues in the workplace – where the workplace is in, on and around rivers and streams and waterways (both natural and constructed).
Nationally accredited units are:
■ SISORSC004 Self rescue in white water
■ SISORSC005 Rescue others in white water
■ SISOBWG004 Cross rivers during bushwalks
The program also provides graduates with the skills to select from various rescue options and then carry out rescues in a team environment. The focus is first on personal safety, whitewater and flowing water awareness, with focus shifting to rescue once personal skills are established. We are able to customise the course to suit the work that hydrologists carry out in their daily activities and the various types of workplace hazards found in a wide range of workplaces around the country. As trained professionals SROs are also highly advised to undertake regular refresher courses to maintain/update skills.
Day 1 Classroom-based theory training,
Days 2 Hands on rescue skills
(if delivered in SE Queensland it could be on Wivenhoe Dam Spillway)
This course is delivered face to face at a venue to be announced on completion of application
